We are surrounded by processes; they are the means by which we transform A into B. We all want to do this transformation, better, cheaper or faster. All of these in the end make more money for the organisation. The current zeitgeist for process improvement is wrapped up in Lean.
The the difficulty with Lean is that it is often presented as magic meta-method. At BakerFish with have a process for process improvement we call FastFive(tm). A series of methods that can be considered precursors to lean are applied in a specific sequence to yield 80% of the benefits of a full Lean Six Sigma intervention, for 20% of the cost.
However, when the process improvement is implemented it is a change project and we need to have addressed the people element and created a powerful Climate that will embrace the change.
